Tuesday 7th November – Year 7 Just Youth Retreat

We were delighted to welcome Just Youth for a special 3-day retreat with our Year 7 students, centered around the theme of Love. The retreat has been a truly wonderful experience, filled with joy, reflection, and uplifting music. It was a time for our students to deepen their understanding of love in all its forms and strengthen their sense of community and faith. We are grateful for the opportunity to share this meaningful experience with our Year 7s.


Thursday 14th November – Newman Chaplains

We were proud to celebrate our Pupil Chaplains who were commissioned by Father Joel. Each received a certificate, badge, and a special blessing. Father Joel commended them for their unwavering commitment to discipleship, while Mr. Potts praised them for their courage and service.

These young people are ready to serve our Newman Family, the Diocese, and the wider community with dedication and passion. Their commitment is truly inspiring, and we can’t wait to see all that they will achieve in their roles as leaders and servants of faith.

 

Monday 2nd December - Year 7 St Herberts Church Visit

Our Year 7 students had the wonderful opportunity to visit St. Herbert's Church, where they engaged in meaningful reflection and deepened their connection to faith. It was an enriching experience that helped foster a stronger sense of community and faith among our students.


Tuesday 3rd December – Advent Appeal, Year 7-9 winter packs for Cornerstones and Year 10-11 Oldham Foodbank

We are thrilled to announce the success of our Advent Appeal, where we collected 22 crates of food donations for the Oldham Foodbank—this is the largest amount raised in Oldham! Year 7-9 students contributed winter packs for Cornerstones, and Year 10-11 students supported the Oldham Foodbank.

A huge thank you to everyone, your generosity is truly making a difference and providing essential support to those in crisis in our community.


Friday 6th December – Dressing and blessing the stable

We had a truly meaningful beginning to our Advent journey at Newman College. We were delighted to be joined by Father Joel, along with students and staff, as we shared in the spiritual experience of dressing and blessing our stable. This tradition marks the start of our Advent preparations, bringing our community together in reflection and celebration of the season's true meaning.


Wednesday 11th December – Year 8 Christmas Carol Service

Our Year 8 students brought festive joy to the school with a heartwarming Christmas Carol Service. The event was filled with beautiful music, reflective readings, and a wonderful sense of community. It was a perfect way to celebrate the Christmas season, as our students shared their talents and helped to spread the spirit of joy and hope.


Thursday 19th December – Christmas Masses

Our Christmas Mass, led by Father Nicholas and Father Fabias, was a beautiful celebration where our school community truly embraced the festive spirit. It was a time of reflection, joy, and gratitude as we gathered in celebration of the season. We feel blessed to share this special time with our students, staff, and families, and are excited for the season ahead.


Friday 20th December – Christmas jumper day, donations to Oldham Foodbank

We celebrated Christmas Jumper Day with our school community, embracing the festive spirit while giving back. Students and staff wore their favorite Christmas jumpers and brought items of tinned or dried food for Oldham Food Bank or donated £1.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, we made a meaningful contribution to those in need this holiday season. It was heartwarming to see our Newman Family come together to support the local community and spread joy.
