Empowering Futures: Year 11 Students Shine in Mock Interviews at Newman RC College

This morning (Tuesday 19th December) Year 11 students took part in a brand-new initiative for the college, as they engaged in mock interviews with external employers. This is a crucial component of their journey towards life beyond exams. Over 250 students participated in this initiative, showcasing not only their academic abilities but also their ambitions, hobbies, skills, and achievements.

The event was made possible by the generosity of around 50 dedicated employers who selflessly gave up their time to visit the school and conduct the interviews. Their presence provided invaluable insights into the real-world expectations and requirements that await our students. With education, technology, motor industry, sales, finance and public sectors being represented - the diverse set of volunteers helped to bring this event to life.

Preparing for and executing a successful interview is a life skill that runs along-side any academic achievements in helping to shape the future of our students. Recognising the importance of moulding well-rounded individuals, that will leave our college and positively contribute to society and our community, Newman RC College is committed to not only delivering the national curriculum but also nurturing the practical skills necessary for success in life after secondary education.

Once again, we would like to say a huge thank you to the employers who gave up their time this morning to support our event, without you it simply would not be possible.
