In the first of a series of theatre trips, students were immersed in a dynamic and emotional performance of Arthur Millar’s, ‘A View from the Bridge’. Performed in the round at Bolton Octagon, the story centres around a Brooklyn waterfront where the orphaned Catherine falls for her newly arrived cousin Rodolfo.
Their romance is encouraged by her aunt but met with revulsion by her uncle, Eddie Carbone. As tensions rise, their story spins beyond control. This performance gave our pupils the opportunity to expand their cultural capital, experience a live retelling of a classic tragedy and develop their understanding of a genre they study for GCSE.
