Our geography curriculum embeds key geographical knowledge and lifelong skills which will support students across the curriculum and will prepare them for life beyond school.
The Geography curriculum at Newman College is rooted in Laudato Si, an encyclical of Pope Francis published in May 2015 which was addressed to “every living person on this planet.” It focuses on care for the natural environment and all people, as well as broader questions of the relationship between God, humans, and the Earth.
By embedding the ethos of Laudato Si, the care for our common home, we aim to develop critical and responsible geographers. They will understand the complexities and balances within God’s creation.
We aim to empower pupils to be global citizens and stewards of our common home, creating confident geographers for the future
“His eternal power and divinity have been made known through
his works since the creation of the world”
Romans 1:20
"The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of
Eden to work it and take care of it."
Genesis 2:15
