“We want all our learners to become tolerant open-minded citizens who are equipped to go out into the wider world to communicate with whomever they wish. We want to open doors to our students in terms of broadening their cultural knowledge and understanding, thus supporting tolerance and curiosity within our society.

We believe that learning a language is an essential tool in life and is integral to becoming a forward-thinking global citizen. We want to create opportunities for adventure and travel, and we want our students to be able to stand shoulder to shoulder in the international market with their international equals”.

« il faut faire aujourd’hui, ce que tout le monde fera demain «

Studying languages and links to careers:

Studying a language at Newman Catholic College not only enhances cultural awareness and communication skills but also significantly broadens career opportunities.

The job market is now increasingly global, and so proficiency in a second language is highly valued by employers across various sectors. Careers in international business, tourism, and hospitality benefit greatly from multilingual employees who can engage with wide-ranging markets and clients from all over the world.

Diplomatic and intelligence services are looking to employ those with language skills to help navigate complex international relations.

Additionally, more traditional language-related roles in translation, interpretation, and education are still in high demand, providing vital services to companies throughout the world. The ability to speak more than one language is also advantageous in fields such as journalism, law, healthcare, and technology, where clear and effective communication with those who may not speak English is essential.

By studying a language, students at Newman Catholic College are not just learning to communicate; they are investing in a skill that can open doors to exciting and dynamic career pathways across a wide range of professions.
